  8. GrabClip is written in Microsoft Visual Basic(tm). You will require 
  9. VBRUN100.DLL to run GrabClip. VBRUN100.DLL is normally obtainable 
  10. from the same sources where you have obtained GrabClip v1.0.

  15. What is GrabClip v1.0?
  16. ----------------------
  17. GrabClip v1.0 is a utility to save bitmaps on the clipboard to disk 
  18. automatically.
  19.  
  20. When GrabClip v1.0 is activated, any bitmaps copied onto the 
  21. clipboard, will be saved to the hard disk.
  22.  
  23. This is useful in situations where there is a need, for example, to 
  24. take a series of screenshots of your application, to produce either 
  25. documentation for the application, or demonstration screens.

  28. How to use GrabClip v1.0?
  29. -------------------------
  30. Install and run GrabClip v1.0, and choose 'Start' from the File menu. 
  31. Run your application and hit the 'Print Screen' key at an appropriate 
  32. point, and the application screen would be copied to the clipboard as 
  33. a bitmap. GrabClip v1.0 would then save the bitmap to the hard disk 
  34. and clear the clipboard for another bitmap.

  36. Repeat this at various points as your application runs and you will 
  37. have a set of bitmap files of screenshots of your application, ready 
  38. to be included into your documentation, or demonstration program.

  40. When you are done, choose 'Stop' from the File menu, and GrabClip 
  41. v1.0 will be de-activated.

  43. The 'Options' item on the File menu sets up the directory where 
  44. GrabClip v1.0 will save the bitmap files. The files are saved under 
  45. the filenames "GChhmmss.BMP" where 'hh' is the current hour (0-23), 
  46. 'mm' the current minute (0-59) and 'ss' the current second (0-59). 
  47. Thus a bitmap 'grabbed' from the clipboard at the time of 15:45:33 
  48. will be saved as "GC154533.BMP".

  51. Limitations
  52. -----------

  54. At the present, because of the file naming convention, the time 
  55. resolution of GrabClip v1.0 is 1 second. If two bitmaps are copied to 
  56. the clipboard in quick succesion, the later bitmap's filename may 
  57. overwrite the first, if they are both saved within the same second. 
  58. This limitation will be addressed in a later version. Obviously, 
  59. bitmaps grabbed on different days at the same time will also clash on 
  60. the filenames.

  63. Installation
  64. ------------
  65. GrabClip v1.0 is normally distributed as a compressed file in the 
  66. PKWare's ZIP format. Make a convenient sub-directory for GrabClip 
  67. v1.0 and unzip the files there. Add GrapClip v1.0 as a new program 
  68. items to Program Manager (or equivalent), and that's it.

  71. Warranties, licencing and distribution

  73. The use of GrabClip v1.0 is subject to the following terms and 
  74. conditions.

  76. GrabClip v1.0 is copyrighted material, but there is no fee payable 
  77. for its use. You may use GrabClip v1.0 on a permanent basis provided 
  78. you do not violate the protection afforded the licensed software by 
  79. the copyright laws, and you agree to the terms of the license 
  80. agreement.

  82. InfoComm(UK) Ltd. does not warrant that the licensed software will 
  83. meet your requirements or that the operation of the software will be 
  84. uninterrupted or error free.

  86. Any implied warranties including any warranties of merchantability or 
  87. fitness for a particular purpose are limited to the term of express 
  88. warranties.

  90. The warranties set forth herewith are in lieu of any and all other 
  91. express or implied warranties, whether oral, written, or implied.

  93. InfoComm(UK) Ltd. is not responsible for any problems or damage 
  94. caused by the licensed software that may result from using the 
  95. licensed software. This includes, but is not limited to, computer 
  96. hardware, computer software, operating systems, and any computer or

  99. The end user agrees not to hold InfoComm(UK) Ltd. liable for any 
  100. problems arising from the use of the software.

  104. from any breach of these warranties even if InfoComm(UK) Ltd. or its

  108. You are granted a license to copy and distribute GrabClip v1.0 only 
  109. for the use of others subject to the terms of this software license 
  110. agreement described herein, and the conditions described below are

  113. GrabClip v1.0 must be copied in an unmodified form and must contain

  119. No fee, charge or other compensation may be accepted or requested by 
  120. anyone without the express written permission of InfoComm(UK) Ltd.

  122. Shareware or public domain disk distributors may not charge a fee for 
  123. GrabClip v1.0 itself. However you may include GrabClip v1.0 on a disk 
  124. for which you charge a nominal distribution fee.

  126. Operators of electronic bulletin board systems may post GrabClip v1.0  
  127. for downloading by their users without written permission only as 
  128. long  as the above conditions are met.  A fee may be charged for 
  129. access to the BBS as long as no SPECIFIC fee is charged for 
  130. downloading GrabClip v1.0 files.
